A common question we are asked is ‘How long does it take for the installation of our system?’
The installation of Bosch Alarm Systems into both single and double-story homes normally takes 3-4 hours.
The installation of Paradox (full-wireless) Alarm Systems normally takes 2-3 hours.
The installation time for CCTV Systems into single-story homes normally takes about 4 hours but it can take a little longer in some cases.
The installation time for CCTV Systems into double-story homes can vary based on the location of the cameras, television and internet connection. We normally recommend allowing a full day for the installation.
Please be aware, the installation times listed above are estimates. Every home is unique and may have features or ‘quirks’ that make installations times faster or a little slower. If you would like to get a more accurate estimate, please feel free to contact us on 1300 130 115.
Bosch Alarm Systems can potentially have three different types of devices that require batteries.
The first device is the Control Panel Backup Battery. Every system will have this battery as it is used to maintain correct operation in the event of a power failure.
When power is lost to the system, the battery will immediately take over to provide temporary power. The amount of time the battery will keep the system running depends on the age of the battery, the amount of devices connected to the system and whether or not the alarm is trigger during this time.
When power to the alarm system is restored, the battery will automatically start charging.
If however the power is not restored before the battery is completely discharged, more than likely the backup battery will need to be replaced as this type of battery is not designed to be completely discharged.
The expected life on this battery is 5 to 10 years under ideal conditions.
The Alarm System will regularly check the condition of the battery and display a fault on the Codepad if the battery needs to be replaced.
As this battery is located in the Control Panel Enclosure, it is recommended that a qualified security technician replace this component.
All Bosch Wireless Detectors contain batteries. The life of these batteries depends on how much activity the detector see and the battery type used.
The Alarm System will regularly check the condition of the detector batteries and display a fault on the Codepad if a battery needs to be replaced.
All Bosch Remote Controls contain either one or two CR2032 Batteries. Over time and with use these batteries will need to be replaced.
If you have noticed a significant reduction in range or your remote is no longer working, it is recommended to replace the battery.

The Solution 2000 supports the wireless Remote Controls for Arming and Disarming of the system, while the Solution 3000 supports also Remote Controls plus the option to integrate with the Bosch RADION range of wireless transmitters.
Used in conjunction with the Bosch B426-M Ethernet communication module, the Remote Security Control Plus (RSC+) app allows users to control their security systems remotely from mobile devices such as phones and tablets.
The Bosch Blue Line Detectors are placed throughout the premises to provide intrusion detection based on movement.
Intelligent intrusion detection is a delicate balance between responding to real security breaches and ignoring costly false alarm triggers. Bosch offers a choice of detector models that set the standard for reliability and rapid detection. Our intrusion detectors suit the requirements of virtually any application – from easy to difficult environments – and stand up to multiple challenges, including strong drafts, moving objects, and the presence of pets.
Blue Line Gen 2 Motion Detectors deliver a broad 12 x 12 meter (40×40 feet) wall-to-wall coverage area and offer advanced First Step Processing that intelligently analyzes motion for an almost instant response to human targets without false alarms.
Blue Line Gen 2 detectors are compact, neutral in color and they blend right into their environment.
This passive infrared (PIR) detector is the perfect balance of performance and economy. It uses a high-density Fresnel lens for sharply-focused images that ensure a superior response to intruders.
Get two PIR detectors in one unit. Both PIR’s must detect an intruder to signal an alarm. If you have a challenging application and need to eliminate false alarms, using a quad will give you the reliability you need.
This model combines standard PIR technology with microwave detection technology and adaptive signal processing to easily differentiate humans from false alarm sources, such as a ceiling fan or hanging sign. For increased reliability, dual sensors process the PIR and microwave signals independently and must agree there is an alarm before the relay activates. The sealed optical chamber also prevents drafts and insects from affecting the detector, and our pet-friendly models rule out motion from family pets or guard dogs, so you only handle valid alarms.

All Bosch Solution Alarm Systems support the use of remote controls to arm and disarm the system.
Each remote is powered by either one or two internal batteries. Over time and with use these batteries will need to be replaced.
If you have noticed a significant reduction in range or your remote is no longer working, it is recommended to replace the battery.
All Bosch remotes use the CR2032 Coin cell Battery which is readily available from most supermarkets and hardware stores.
Below are the three different styles of Bosch Remotes. Each type of remote has a slightly different disassembly method or battery layout.
You will require a small Phillips head screwdriver to access to the battery compartments on all remotes shown here.
To access the battery compartment on the RFKF-FB, remove the screw on the rear of the remote and then lift the rear cover up and off.
The battery for this remote is located in the rear cover and can be gently dislodged with the screwdriver.
Install the new battery making sure it is oriented correctly. On this particular model it is “positive” down.
Replace the rear cover and insert the screw making sure to not over tighten it.
You can now test the remote.
To access the battery compartment on the HCT-4UL, loosen all four screws on the rear of the remote and then remove the rear cover.
Remove the green board from inside the remote making sure to keep track of the button pad as it may be attached.
The screwdriver can be used to gently remove the battery from the battery holder.
Install the new battery making sure it is oriented correctly. On this particular model it is “positive” up.
Place the green board back inside the remote body making sure it is lined up with the button pad.
Replace the rear cover and tighten up the four screws making sure to not over tighten them.
This remote control is not marked with a model number but can be identified by its plastic button protector and buttons labeled 1, 2, 3 and 4.

The majority of Bosch Solution Alarm Systems can support up to 8 different user codes for arming and disarming the alarm system.
This procedure will be the same for almost all Bosch Solution Alarms systems with Icon Keypads, however, there are a few exceptions which are listed at the bottom of this article.
The first code in the system, User 1, is the Master Code.
The Master Code will be required to make changes to the system and the system must be disarmed before proceeding.
To add a new user code into the system, the first step is to enter User programming mode, this is done by entering the ‘master code’ followed by 1 and then ‘# AWAY’.
If you have entered the correct code followed by 1 ‘# AWAY’, you should hear two beeps and see the Stay and Away Indicators flashing. You are now in user programming mode.
If you enter your code followed by 1 ‘hash’ and you do not hear the two beeps or see the Stay and Away Indicators flashing, try again. If it does not work the second time, your user code is most likely is not the master code.
The next step is to enter the user number you wish to change followed by ‘# AWAY’. In this case we are going to add a second code into the system and user number 2 is selected.
After entering the user number followed by ‘hash’, you should see the user number you are changing show up on the screen.
Last step is to enter the new user code followed by ‘# AWAY’. The new code must exactly 4 digits.
When you enter your new code followed by ‘# AWAY’, you should hear two beeps and you will be returned to the normal screen.
If you enter your new code followed by ‘# AWAY’ and a long beep is heard, the code entered may have had either too many or too few digits or the user code is already programmed in the system.
You will be returned to your normal screen and will have to attempt the procedure again making sure the new code is correct.
The procedure for changing user codes is almost identical to that of adding codes the difference being you will select a user number that already has a user code programmed.
The first step is to enter User programming mode with the master code followed by 1 and then ‘# AWAY’.
Then enter the user number you wish to change followed by ‘# AWAY’. In this case we are going to change the code for user number 2.
Then enter the new user code followed by ‘# AWAY’. You should hear two beeps and you will be returned to your normal screen.
To remove a user code from the system, enter User programming mode with the master code followed by 1 and then ‘# AWAY’.
Then enter the user number you wish to delete followed by ‘# AWAY’. In this case we are going to delete the code for user number 2.
Then press the ‘* STAY’. You should hear two beeps and you will be returned to your normal screen.
To make future user code changes easier, take note of the user numbers that have codes programmed and it is always recommended to test the newly programmed codes to confirm they are working correctly.

There are currently two distinct versions of software running on Hikvision Video Recorders. Although the fundamentals are the same, the menu structure is quite different.
This article covers the Hikvision GUI 3 and earlier User Interfaces.
To access playback on your Hikvision Video Recorder, right-click anywhere on the screen to bring up the quick menu and then click on Menu.
In the top left hand corner of the Main Menu, click on Playback.
Selecting a camera in the top right will then show you the days on the month that have recordings. Selecting a day will then populate the timeline below with recordings for the camera. You may also have the option to select the resolution of the timeline, by default 30 minutes is selected but changing it to 24 hours will initially make finding recordings easier.
Pressing the play button at the bottom of the screen will start playback for the selected camera and day.
You can quickly move to different parts of the day by clicking through the timeline.
The timeline resolution can be changed back to 1 hour to give more detail and make finding the exact time easier.
Using the playback controls below, the video can be paused and the Date and Time can be noted.
To return to Live View, right-click once to move back to the Main Menu and then right-click once more to close the Main Menu.
Multiple cameras can be viewed simultaneously but will only follow the timeline of one selected camera. This camera can be selected by clicking once on its video stream. You will see the timeline change when a different camera selected and a yellow box is shown around the selected camera.
Systems setup for continuous recording will playback multiple cameras without interruptions.
However, on systems setup to record when movement is detected, you might notice the footage on another camera pausing or not showing. This is because that camera did not record anything at the same time as the selected camera.
